Norwegian wool is one of the most environmentally-friendly and sustainable textiles in the world, and the Norwegian wool sourced via Norilia holds the Nordic “Swan” Ecolabel. This is because Norwegian agriculture is well-organised, ensuring an overview of the entire value chain, from sheep farmer, via wool station, and up to the final washing of the wool.

Minimum use of chemicals

There are very few insecticide residues in Norwegian wool, and few pesticides are generally used in Norwegian agriculture. Norwegian sheep farming is also based on grazing of areas where few pesticides are used. In the summer, more than 85 per cent of all Norwegian sheep graze in outlying land where no pesticides are used at all.

Nordic Ecolabel

We source most of our Norwegian wool through Norilia, which cooperates with its sister company, Haworth Scouring Company in the UK, on washing the wool. HSC has one of the market's most environmentally-friendly washing processes. This includes super-modern equipment to process discharge water. Norwegian wool from Norilia, washed at HSC, is approved for the Nordic “Swan” Ecolabel. HSC is also accredited with GOTS and OEKO Tex.
